- 500 grams gyros meat
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 100 ml Metaxa brandy
- 200 ml vegetable stock
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat.
- Add onions and garlic, cooking until soft.
- Stir in the gyros meat and brown on all sides.
- Pour in the Metaxa and vegetable stock.
- Add oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve hot with pita bread or rice.
